Privacy Policy

Thank you for using AtlasCalc ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how AtlasCalc collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

AtlasCalc is designed to respect your privacy. The app collects the minimum data needed to function.

1.1. Information stored on your device (never sent to us)

The following data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.

• Favorite calculators
• Calculation history
• Saved calculations (with optional notes and folder organization)
• Theme preferences (light, dark, custom themes)
• Language preference (English, French, Arabic)
• Text size and accessibility settings (reduce motion, high contrast)
• Currency preference
• Notification settings
• Home-screen widget configuration
• Onboarding state (whether you've completed the first-run tour)

1.2. Information sent to third-party services

AtlasCalc integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.

a) Google AdMob (advertising)

The app displays ads served by Google AdMob. When ads are shown, Google may collect:

• Device identifiers (advertising ID, Android ID)
• IP address (used to estimate general location for ad targeting)
• Ad interaction data (which ads you view, tap, or skip)
• App-usage signals (time spent in the app, screens visited)

This data is used by Google to serve relevant ads, prevent fraud, and measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's settings (Settings → Google → Ads on Android). Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

AdMob is configured with maxAdContentRating = G and tagForChildDirectedTreatment = false.

b) Supabase (optional cloud sync)

If you choose to enable cloud sync in Settings, your favorites and saved calculations are sent to our Supabase database, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Authentication uses email + password.

You can disable cloud sync at any time in Settings → Account → Sign out. When you sign out, your data is removed from the cloud.

c) Market data providers (optional, opt-in via API keys)

Some calculators fetch live prices (cryptocurrency, gold, stocks). When you use these calculators, the app sends the symbol (e.g. BTC, AAPL) to one of the following providers, depending on which you have configured in your .env:

• CoinGecko — cryptocurrency prices (privacy)
• goldapi.io — gold, silver, platinum prices (privacy)
• Alpha Vantage — stock quotes (privacy)
• Finnhub — stock quotes (privacy)

These providers are industry-standard market data services. If you don't want your requests logged, simply don't use the calculators that need them.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

AtlasCalc does not collect, store, or sell:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Your contacts
• Your photos or videos
• Your messages
• Your location (GPS or network-based)
• Your microphone recordings (the app does not use voice input)
• Your camera (the app does not use the camera)
• Your files or documents
• Your passwords
• Your bank or credit card information (we do not process payments in-app — donations go to Ko-fi via your browser)
• Any biometric data

3. Permissions

The app requests the following Android permission, which is strictly necessary for ads to load and (optionally) for live market data to be fetched:

• INTERNET — to load ads and (optionally) fetch live market data

The following dangerous permissions are explicitly blocked in the app's manifest and will never be requested at runtime:

• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
• CAMERA
• RECORD_AUDIO
• READ_CONTACTS
• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

4. Notifications (opt-in)

AtlasCalc only sends notifications if you explicitly enable them in Settings → Notifications. Notifications may include:

• Daily calculation tips
• Featured calculator of the day
• Exchange rate updates (if you use the currency calculator)

You may disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings or in your device's system settings.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1. Local storage

All personal data (favorites, history, saved calculations, settings) is stored locally on your device using react-native-mmkv, an encrypted key-value store. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.

5.2. Cloud storage (optional)

If you enable cloud sync, your favorites and saved calculations are stored in a Supabase database, hosted on AWS infrastructure. Supabase uses industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.

5.3. Security measures

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure.

6. Children's Privacy

AtlasCalc is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app's content rating is Everyone, and AdMob is configured to show only G-rated (family-safe) ads.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You can do any of the following at any time:

• Clear your calculation history (long-press to delete, or "Clear all" in History)
• Delete saved calculations (Settings → Saved → long-press to delete)
• Remove favorites (tap the star icon on any calculator)
• Disable cloud sync (Settings → Account → Sign out — your data is removed from the cloud)
• Opt out of personalized ads (Android Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization")
• Disable notifications (Settings → Notifications, or system settings)
• Reset all app data (Settings → Reset all)
• Uninstall the application at any time

8. International Data Transfers

Some third-party services we use (AdMob, Supabase, market data providers) may process your data on servers located in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence. By using AtlasCalc, you consent to the transfer of your information to those countries.

10. Open Source

AtlasCalc is built using open-source software. The source code is licensed under the MIT License (see the LICENSE file in the app's repository).

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page along with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated in-app if possible.
